Con l’approssimarsi della scadenza dei primi quattro anni di applicazione, il 30 aprile il Ministero della Giustizia ha reso noto il rinnovo per altri due anni del regime di 41 bis nei confronti di Alfredo Cospito. Il 12 giugno è prevista l’udienza presso il Tribunale di Sorveglianza di Roma in merito al ricorso contro il rinnovo da parte del ministero.
Alfredo Cospito è un anarchico imprigionato nel 2012 per aver colpito uno dei massimi responsabili del disastro nucleare che verrà. Dopo quasi 10 anni di carcere, veniva trasferito nel più afflittivo e vessatorio regime detentivo esistente nelle carceri italiane. Un provvedimento in linea con le manovre repressive di tutti gli ultimi governi, quindi palese espressione di politiche di guerra interna, imposto con lo scopo di ammutolirlo e interrompere la circolazione dei suoi testi. Contestualmente, nella fase finale del processo anti-anarchico “Scripta Manent”, veniva messo a rischio di una condanna all’ergastolo ostativo.
Il movimento di solidarietà internazionale del 2022-’23, sviluppatosi particolarmente durante il lunghissimo sciopero della fame di Alfredo, ha infranto l’equilibrio politico e repressivo su cui si basava l’intento di annientamento totale rappresentato dalla combinazione del 41 bis con il rischio di una condanna all’ergastolo (all’epoca pressoché certa). Al tempo stesso, quella mobilitazione ha squarciato la coltre di silenzio imposta su un regime detentivo di tortura prima di allora intoccabile. Risale infine allo scorso anno il proscioglimento di 12 anarchici, tra cui Alfredo stesso, inquisiti a Perugia per la pubblicazione di un giornale anarchico rivoluzionario. Un’inchiesta che era stata un importante sostegno al trasferimento in 41 bis.
Alfredo Cospito è tutt’oggi recluso in quel regime di tortura bianca, pertanto la mobilitazione non è conclusa. Continuare a lottare contro il 41 bis non ha solamente a che vedere con il carcere e la repressione statale: la reclusione di alcuni rivoluzionari nelle sezioni speciali è un monito alle componenti più vive nell’ambito della lotta contro lo Stato e il capitalismo.
Continuare a lottare contro il 41 bis è quindi parte integrante di una prospettiva rivoluzionaria che non si estingue. Per una libertà autentica e integrale che ancora non esiste in questa realtà, ma che continua a pulsare nei nostri cuori, così come in quelli di coloro che hanno dato tutto sé stessi, fino alla fine e senza mezze misure. Sara Ardizzone e Alessandro Mercogliano, anarchici tragicamente morti in azione nel mese di marzo, sono tra questi compagni la cui coerenza e dignità continueranno a turbare il potere. Anche per loro prendiamo l’iniziativa.

FOR INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY AMONG THE OPPRESSED
AGAINST ALL THE MASTERS OF WAR AND EXPLOITATION
As the four-year application period was coming to an end, the Ministry of Justice announced on April 30 that the 41 bis regime would be extended for another two years for Alfredo Cospito. A hearing regarding the appeal against the Ministry’s decision to extend the regime is scheduled for June 12 at the Supervisory Court of Rome.
Alfredo Cospito is an anarchist imprisoned in 2012 for attacking one of the key individuals responsible for the upcoming nuclear disaster. After nearly ten years imprisonment, he was transferred to the most oppressive prison regime in the Italian prison system. This measure is in line with the repressive maneuvers of all recent governments and is a clear expression of internal war policies imposed to silence him and halt the circulation of his writings. Meanwhile, in the final phase of the anti-anarchist “Scripta Manent” trial, he faced the risk of a life sentence without parole.
The international solidarity movement of 2022–23, which developed during Alfredo’s extremely long hunger strike, shattered the political and repressive balance on which the intent of total annihilation, represented by the combination of 41 bis and a life sentence, was based. At the same time, the movement pierced the veil of silence surrounding a torture prison regime that had previously been untouchable. Finally, last year, 12 anarchists, including Alfredo, were acquitted in Perugia of charges related to publishing a revolutionary anarchist newspaper. The investigation had been a key justification for the transfer to 41 bis.
Alfredo Cospito remains imprisoned under that regime of silent torture, so the struggle is not over. Continuing to fight against 41 bis is not merely a matter of prison conditions and state repression. The imprisonment of certain revolutionaries in special sections serves as a warning to those most active in the struggle against the state and capitalism.
Therefore, continuing to fight against 41 bis is an integral part of a revolutionary vision that won’t die out. For an authentic and complete freedom that does not yet exist in this reality but continues to beat in our hearts and in the hearts of those who gave their all until the very end without reserve. Sara Ardizzone and Alessandro Mercogliano, anarchists who tragically died in action in March, are among these comrades whose coherence and dignity will continue to unsettle power. We take the initiative for them, too.
